Fun Times!

WARNING: This is a very random post.....
I feel like we are living life in slower mode this week and it's so nice. Josh is on Spring Break and WOW, it makes a difference in our household. It has been especially helpful having extra hands in the morning to get Josie up and ready for "school!" I think we have had the TV on more than EVER in our house the past few days. Instead of Josh in his office at home studying at night and me steadily preparing us all for the next day and wrapping up my own work at home, we have enjoyed actually talking and watching TV after Josie goes to bed. It's the little things in life. I love that Josh has been home when I get home after work. I could go on and on.... We love having Josh around more..... boy, we have sure enjoyed it! I could sure get used to this :) Next Monday is going to be tough
We have taken advantage of this extra spare time....

We enjoyed a fun family trip to the zoo this past weekend. It was very spontaneous, which made it that much more fun!

Ok, this is where this post starts getting a little random....

Josie came home from school the other day very proud of her drawing. Apparently all of the children in the class were asked to draw their favorite place to eat. Josie drew "Kreme Kastle." ha!! Then, when the teacher asked her what she liked to eat at Kreme Kastle, she said "Sprite!" It's really funny to me. We honestly have wondered if Josie will ever remember our wild days of owning Kreme Kastle when she's older. I really thought it was actually quickly slipping from her sweet, young and innocent memory, but obviously not. I'm thinking that most of the other kids answered that their fave restaurants were Mc Donald's, Pizza Hut, etc.... Not my special girl :)

I can't explain how much I love this little girl. She's the light of my life. She makes me laugh every single day. I could just eat her up. There are so many wonderful memories that I don't want to forget about this age. We just have so much fun. I was thinking the other day how hard it used to be about a year ago when Josie just really wouldn't ever play by herself and had to be entertained so much. That stage was fun , too. However, now it's so fun to watch Josie become a more independent little gal. She still is not fond of playing on her own much, but she does do it and she has become so imaginative. She's very into "pretend play" and I will find her just chatting like she's having a conversation with someone or will "read" her babies a book.... She's still VERY into babies. Babies and puzzles. Oh, and don't forget Dora.
My sweet girl loves to dance. She loves music. She will automatically start dancing when she hears music on the radio, tv or computer. I'm not bragging, but I must say that Josie has great manners. I wish that would last forever. I'm not sure how she acts at school or with anyone else, but she always tells me, 'Yes or no mam" at home and she will say "thank you" for just about anything. She tells me all of the time, "I love you, Mommy" - that will melt your heart! My favorite is that she says, "I love you to the moon and back".... If I could keep her like this forever, I am pretty sure I would :)
I have noticed that Josie has changed some since she moved up to the 3 year old class. Who knew that peer pressure and clicks started so early in life?! She is always talking about her classmates and who plays with who and who will play with her, etc. I think there may be some girls in the class that are a little bossy, too! It's interesting to see the dynamic in the classroom. Josie tells me all of the time that I can be her friend. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in that classroom sometimes :)

Josie is still so sensitive. She will cry about anything.... I think she's a real people pleaser and wants everyone to be happy. She gets that from me... Poor girl, that can sure get you into trouble sometimes when you worry so much about everyone else's feelings. Don't you dare tell Josie that you are sorry about anything. She will say, "oh, don't say you are sorry. you not mean it!" I think she thinks you have done something really bad if you have to say you are sorry. That's a tough one to explain to a little 3 year old.
Ok, enough rambling................I just want to bottle my sweet gal up and keep her as sweet and precious as she is now!!! I hope that she will always want to be my "big helper, have sweet manners, be happy to see me after school or anytime and say that she loves me to the moon and back :)

Big Girl Room

I'm about two months behind posting about Josie's BIG GIRL ROOM!!!!!
Josie began sleeping in her big girl room the weekend of her 3rd brithday!
I put this big transition off for a long time, because Josie loved her crib! She never tried to crawl out of it. So, why mess with a good thing?!?! However, we knew it was time once she turned 3.
** I don't know what's going on with Blogger these days, but these pics are out of order :(
(maybe it's a user error!!)

Josie's side table - I definitely wanted to incorporate more than just pink... I love the turquoise and green!

I tried to keep things as simple (and economical) as possible. We took the crib down and put up my grandmother's antique bed that was in our guest room. We actually decided to use the white coverlet that has been on the bed since we got married. We just added some girly pillows to make it more fun for Josie! We kept the walls the same color green from her nursery and the window treatments are the same. I just tried my best to incorporate some other colors besides just pink.

This is Josie on her big girl bed the first night that she was going to sleep in it!!!! She was very excited and did great that night!
HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!
This is the same furniture that we had in her room before. We just painted the inside of the shelf more of a turquoise color instead of pale pink (this isn't quite the blue that we were going for, but oh well.....)
It's hard to see in this picture, but I love the monogram that we ordered for above her bed!
Josie has done great in her big girl bed! I need to get a more "realistic" picture of what her bed REALLY looks like these days..... Lots of stuffed animals and TONS of babies lined up in the bed with her :) And... let's be honest, the bed rarely gets made! Josie cracks me up, because she still believes that she has to call us before she gets out of the bed. I always imagined that when we switched her to a big girl bed, she would discover all of this new found freedom, but nope..... and I'm good with that for as long as it will last :) We did decide to use bedrails on both sides of the bed. However, Josie has fallen out of the bed three times and it TERRIFIES her, but then she quickly calms down and goes back to bed after we love on her :-) Sweet girl!!!!
